There is much to enjoy beyond TEDx talks at our next event. Let’s dive deeper into what you can expect!

Before, in between and after our live TEDx talk sessions, we are offering you something a little bit different from previous events.

TEDxLondonWomen community building: Creating your career community

A wide shot of lots of audience members chatting and mingling. In the centre of the image is a young white woman with curly brown hair and glasses chatting to her friends.

During The Warm Up (10:30-12:00), learn how to build your career community during a network session with a difference.

In a squiggly career your career community is a critical part of how we learn, borrow brilliance and explore future possibilities. Defining networking as people helping people, Amazing If believe the best relationships are based on a giving mindset.

In this networking session, Sarah will support you to assess the strength of your network and how to fill the gaps you’ve got. You’ll have a chance to consider what you’d like to give and gain as part of your career community and the different roles you can play in a network.

Sarah Ellis is the co-founder of Amazing If, an award-winning company with a mission to make squiggly careers better for everyone. Together with Helen Tupper, they are the authors of two Sunday Times bestsellers, The Squiggly Career and You Coach You. Their TEDx talk, The best career path isn’t always a straight line, has been watched by almost 2 million people and their weekly Squiggly Careers podcast has more than 4 million downloads.

TEDxLondonWomen workshop: Bystander intervention workshop

A close up shot of four audience members clapping and cheering. There are three brown women with dark hair and wearing black clapping and next to them is a mixed race woman with pink hair clapping.

During The Break (13:30-15:00), you have two exciting options to choose from a workshop or a walking tour! First up, our TEDxLondonWomen themed workshop.

Do you know what to do if you or someone nearby is stopped and searched by the police? In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn your rights around stop search, what the difference between stop and search and stop and account is, and how to be a good ally to communities impacted by institutionally racist stop and search. Help keep your communities safe and become a proactive bystander. Together we can work collectively to reduce harm when rights are abused by British police.

Walking Tours

Three of the TEDxLondon presenters walk across the zebra crossing at Abbey Road (like the beatles album). On the left, Jamie Windust, a white nonbinary person, is wearing a bright yellow, long jacket and walking in high heels. Ben Hurst, a light black man with shaved hair, wearing a patterned and dark green tracksuit walks in the middle. On the right, Maryam Pasha in a light blue dress, and a paisley light patterned blazer walks with sunglasses laughing.

Second up during The Break (13:30-15:00), you can get to know the local area, Hackney, a bit better through one of two walking tours. You can choose between:

🧑‍🎤 Rebels & Radicals Walk

Join Simon Cole from Hackney Tours for a 40 minute guided walk ‘back in time’ that will join the dots between the rebels, radicals, and revolutionaries of Hackney’s past and East London’s changemakers of today. Discover a rich tradition of thinkers and doers challenging the status quo, and leave inspired to follow in the footsteps of these storytelling giants.

🏛️ Hackney Town Hall Tour

Hackney Town Hall is one of London’s finest examples of civic art deco architecture. Originally designed by Lanchester & Lodge and opened in 1937, today the Grade II Listed building is still central to community life. Join Hackney Councillor Christopher Kennedy for a 30 minute guided tour and learn all about the Town Hall!

Each tour will last around 30-40 minutes. Hackney Town Hall is fully accessible with lifts to all floors and a DDA compliant ramp at the front of the Town Hall. The Radical Walking Tour is all flat on ground and pavements.

Beyond Borders workshop: Master your media, master your mind

A group photo of various audience members sitting at round tables, smiling and looking towards the presenter. In the foreground, there is a young, brown woman with long black hair in a pink top smiling brightly.

Post Show (16:30-17:30), the festival experience continues with our Beyond Borders themed workshop.

Mental clarity, emotional resilience and unbreakable focus are the ultimate edge for peak performance. But there’s an invisible force that silently works against you every single day, draining your energy and stealing your focus – your media diet.

Join Jodie Jackson, previous TEDxLondon speaker and founder of the News Literacy Lab, to explore the connection between your media diet, mental health, and peak performance. She’ll help give you the “mental edge” needed to thrive in an age of information overload.

Jodie Jackson is a TEDxLondon speaker, bestselling author, and founder of the News Literacy Lab, on a mission to transform our media diet into a source of mental well-being and peak performance. After experiencing firsthand how consuming a flood of negative news affected her own wellbeing, Jodie dedicated her career to uncovering the powerful connection between media and mental health. Her books, You Are What You Read: Why Changing Your Media Diet Can Change the World and the children’s title Little Ruffle and the World Beyond, have empowered readers worldwide to rethink the impact of their daily media habits. Watch her TEDxLondon talk, Beyond fake news: how to heal a broken worldview, now.

Happening throughout the day

There are some popular activities coming back this year: our Speaker Cafe and Bookstall.

TEDxLondon speaker, Josephine, is wearing traditional Tongan dress, a bright green patterened dress with red flowers in her hair. She is speaking to a white woman with curly blonde hair and a red jumper.

TEDxLondon Speaker Cafe

Connect with our speakers and ask your burning questions at the Speaker Cafe. After each session, this is a space to chat with the speakers you’ve seen on our stage and discuss their talks in more depth.

A bookstall with a white pull up banner saying 'Housmans Bookshop, radical bookersellers since 1945'. Members of the audience are browsing the books.

Bookstall

For the bookworms, we are thrilled to welcome back Housmans to run our bookstall. Stocking best sellers, titles by our current and past speakers and fantastic new reads, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Housmans is a worker-run, radical bookshop in the heart of London, established in 1945 and based in Kings Cross since 1959. We specialise in books, magazines, and periodicals on topics like feminism, pacifism, Black politics, LGBTQIA+ politics, environmental justice and anarchism.
