We’re here for you during COVID-19

Hello You.

As the situation with the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to evolve on a daily basis in the UK and beyond, it’s not unusual to feel overwhelmed looking for accurate information and anxious about those closest to you.

With guidance  on COVID-19 continuing  to top the list for internet search results, the NHS has been working with social media companies to tackle fake news about the Coronavirus outbreak and prevent the spread of misinformation and myths.

If you’re eager to learn more about the current pandemic, you can read this informative interview with public health expert Dr. David Heymann on what we know (and don’t know) about COVID-19 over on the TED-Ed blog. And infectious disease expert Adam Kucharski gives a necessary perspective on COVID-19’s transmission, how governments have responded and what needs to change in order to end the pandemic on the TED Interview podcast.

We know how important community and feeling connected is at times such as these and we wanted to let you know we’re still here!

Our events for 2020

We are planning to hold our two largest, mass audience, events in October and December this year. This means that for the time being, we are continuing to plan as normal for these two fantastic TEDxLondon activities – the first linked to a special global TED initiative addressing the climate crisis, followed by TEDxLondonWomen, which will return in December. We’ll be sure to share news and updates on those events in due course, so stay tuned for more information.

TED Circles

We’ve been thrilled to see so many of you interested in, and coming to, our new TED Circles events. In light of the current situation with COVID-19, we have decided to run our next TED Circle as a virtual event and will be sharing details on how to get involved over the next few days. We’ll continue to monitor the situation closely and make a decision about future TED Circles on the basis of official advice relating to group activities, and guided by our own wish to do the right thing for our community.

Don’t feel isolated!

In the meantime, remember we’re always here on our digital and social media channels, so please stay connected with us! Watch our talks, join in the conversations on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, and encourage your friends and family to sign up to our newsletter for more ideas worth spreading!

Our community in London and beyond is so important. Please remember to check in on the more vulnerable people you know in your neighbourhoods and let’s stick together! And finally, we know that our mental health is often hugely affected by scary situations like this that are beyond our control. Do reach out to someone if you feel anxious and make sure you top up on your own self-care.

TED Talks to help you keep calm and carry on!

You may be spending less time going out to events and curbing your social gatherings, so why not reach for a dose of inspiration from TED instead? You can sign up for personalised recommendations from TED, based on your interests, or search for some inspiration on one of the carefully curated TED Playlists.

And if podcasts are your thing, don’t forget we have this fabulous list of some of our favourites ready to take your mind off things.

We’ll keep you up to date with all our plans over

the next few weeks. Keep in touch, spread kindness and take care!

Love from all of us at TEDxLondon
